Overview

  • Founded: October 16, 1932, by Aliene C. Ewell, RN, and 11 other courageous registered nurses

  • Parent Organization: Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated, with its Alpha Chapter being the first

  • Mission: Developing healthy communities through advocacy, collaboration, education, leadership, research, and service

  • Core Purposes:

    • Continuing Education: Encouraging pursuit of continuing nursing education

    • Nursing Leadership: Identifying nursing leaders for social change

    • Professional Relationships: Developing relationships with other professional groups

    • Member Relationships: Stimulating close relationships among members

    • Recruitment: Implementing recruitment programs for health careers
